More problems

Ok, tonight I was working my car again. It is all back together and runs perfect......with a small catch....the speedometer doesn't work. Well, I think I have narrowed it down a bit, the problem either lies with the small gear that goes into the transmission or the transmission itself. At first I thought it was the sensor, but I decided to do a few unsafe tests, like running the car while on jack stands, letting the wheels spin, all the while I was leaning into the engine bay. The point of this unsafe experiment was to see if I could actually see the gears inside the speed sensor hole spinning. Well from what I could see they seemed to be spinning just fine. Then I decided to take of the top half of the speed sensor to see if I could actually see the moving parts in the sensor itself. Since I was able to see them, I then turned the sensors gear by hand and could see that the sensors mechanical parts functions as one would expect. So this is where the excitement comes in. I then decided to stick the bottom half of the sensor, with the internal components exposed, into the transmission. This isn't as deadly as it sounds, but its not the safest thing to do. Anyways, no matter what I did I could not get the gears inside of the speed sensor to turn, so this leads me to believe there must be something else wrong. I dont know if its the gear on the bottom of the sensor that has gone bad or if its the gear in the transmission that somehow has worn down and will not touch the gear on the sensor. Either way, I have problems. I think I am destined to drive the bronco and waste gas. Luckily for me, this Iraqi oil burns just fine.
